Jay Peak Golf.

For those who might care, Vermont Golf Magazine just came out.  I have a few photos published with an article on the Jay Peak Golf Course.  I've had Jay Peak as a client for a while now and have had the opportunity to shoot the course even before they had finished building it.   Shooting Jay's course is always fun.  I drive up the night before and get out on the course to shoot a little and play a little...I wake up before sunrise and hop into my cart and head out to shoot before the grounds-crew even arrives.   The best part about shooting golf courses?  No models, no art directors, just me and the course.  Here are a few pic's from the magazine and a few of my favorites from the course.

An Author and a Chef.

Two interesting jobs last week. First job was shooting a book cover for author Herb Kavet. Herb is 71 and more fit than most of us.   His book, Die Young, As Late As Possible, is a guide to staying healthy and fit as you age.  I'll post a link to the book when it's finished.  The second job of the week was for 7 Days, a newspaper based out of Burlington.  They are running a weekly feature called "Grilling the Chef," basically a Q&A with Vermont Chefs but for the photos they are looking for the chefs doing something a little less "chefy".   My subject was Caleb Barber.  Caleb is proprietor and head chef of Pane e Salute right here in Woodstock.  For the portrait I met Caleb at his house in Barnard and took some shots of him in his garden where he grows food for his restaurant.

Here are a few from the shoots.

No Photography...Lots of Work

So not a whole lot of photography taking place here...that does not mean a whole lot of work hasn't been getting done.  So here is what I've been up to since my return from Florida and South Carolina:

  • Got both features I shot for Backcountry Magazine out the door and on the photo-editors desk.
  • Got the job I shot for Ski Vermont in the mail.
  • Sent out and received back my Powder Magazine submission.  They held a total of 41 images for possible use in next years issues.  They were all East coast shots but one.  Realistically maybe 2-3 shots will run, if I'm lucky maybe 5 or 6.  We'll just have to wait and see.
  • Just mailed out my Freeskier Magazine submission.
  • Joined another stock agency.  This collection is very green and it will be some time before I see any checks.
  • Finished the last of the end-of-season Killington edits.
  • Managed to fit in shooting a wedding last weekend and have even started the edit.
  • Even snuck in some time for a little more fishing.  Caught this hog last night on the Black River not to far from home.
