FRESH

Lot's of cool stuff going on at Justin Cash Photography. First, I've given the blog a clean new look. Second, some very cool publications to note in the coming weeks. Third, my website, www.justincash.com has recently received an overhaul, not so much in the look of the site, but the content. You will notice new portfolios and new images and hopefully a tighter overall feel. I also have a totally separate wedding website located HERE.

Snowing.

So its snowing for the first time outside right now.  Even sticking.  Might be time to get the ski gear out and dusted off.  A few images to note this week.  In the new issue of Backcountry I have what I think might be my first non-ski image published in a ski magazine and a small pic of Kubas shot in the woods around Rutland.  Also noteworthy is the inside backcover.  It's an ad for Bentgate Skishop out of Golden, Colorado.  In the ad, fantastic tele-skier and future Alta Mayor, Mike Burton is dropping the knee up on Patsy Marley.

Dolphins & X-Wing Fighters???

Cool job this past Wednesday.  Got a call from the guys over at Advanced Animations.  I was there a few weeks ago with 7Days.(post HERE)  They were all finished with a few projects and getting ready to ship them out the door, but before they boxed them up, they wanted me to grab a couple of promo shots for their portfolio.

These next two images are the final product.  The usual contrast and saturation added along with some post production photoshop.

x-wing fighter headed to Disney World.
life sized robotic dolphin, this thing moved like the real deal, very cool.

As we were finishing up, Bob hopped in for a test drive, it also gives you an idea of the size of this thing.  The x-wing fighter has an electric motor and will be driving  Micky & Minny around the streets of Disney.  I asked to take it for a spin but was denied, bummer.

Here are a couple of behind-the-scenes shots.  Thats Bob acting as a human boom on the left.

Highland MTB Park.

A few weeks ago myself, Kubas, Matty Hauke and Vin Quenneville took a little road trip over to NH to shoot some mountain biking at Highland MTB Park.  We had been trying to get over to Highland all summer, but either rain, oppressive heat (we're talking high 90's and heavy humidity = no fun lugging around 50 lbs of photo crap) or conflicting schedules had put the trip on hold, but this day was perfect and the crew was psyched.  Highland is a downhill mountain bikers dream, tons of great trails perfectly manicured.  From tight banked single track to step-ups to 10 foot drops to wall rides to the mother of all drops called Tombstone.  This fucker was rightly named.  Tombstone I'm told might be the biggest drop on the East coast and I'm not going to argue.  First off, to hit this drop, you need to speed down some single track, hop up onto the wooden platform, take a small right turn between two trees, then launch yourself off what must be a 20+ foot drop.  Now if all that doesn't make you soil your pants, the landing is this small 8 foot tall transition.  I mean this landing is tiny, no room for error.  If you hit this thing with to little speed your back tire will get hooked on the top of the tranny and you'll go ass over tea kettle..and God forbid you hit it with to much steam and over shoot the tranny, you end up bottoming out 30 feet below...either option is no bueno and will leave the unlucky rider searching for a new pair of nutz.

You can check out Highland MTB Park and all it has to offer HERE.

"The Tombstone"

To give it some scale, check out Matty and Kubas near the landing.

New Hampshire Department of Travel and Tourism.

A couple of winters ago I got a call from an old friend who was working for an agency called Rumbletree based out of Portsmouth, NH. One of their clients is the New Hampshire Department of Travel and Tourism. Turns out they were looking for some new and fresh ski and snowboarding photography. After a great 2 day shoot at Loon and Cannon mountains and over 3000 frames shot, I wrapped it all up and headed home looking forward to seeing the end product the following year. Well I guess the NH department of travel and tourism doesn't advertise much in my home state of VT...and I never saw one piece from the shoot. I would get calls from friends down in Boston and NYC saying that they had noticed a bunch of my shots on posters, billboards and in subways, but till just the other day I had never seen any of it. A special thanks goes out to Whitney at Rumbletree who sent me a little care package filled with a few samples. Here are a few.

They even made a coffee cup holder.
